EL Publishing first book-length volume now available

The first book-length publication from EL Publishing entitled Language Land and Song: Studies in honour of Luise Hercus was published online today.

The volume is a collection of 37 chapters edited by Peter K. Austin, Harold Koch and Jane Simpson, and covers a diverse range of topics around the themes of languages, locations, history, and songs in Aboriginal Australia. The volume honours the work of Luise Hercus, who has been a leading figure in the documentation of Australian Indigenous languages for more than 50 years. Her work ranges from salvage studies to detailed descriptions of individual languages, all richly contextualised by documentation of songs, stories, relationships to land and biographies. The papers in this volume represent contemporary research on these topics and were written by some of the leading researchers in linguistics, history, anthropology, ethno-musicology and education.

Further information, including the Table of Contents and Information about Authors, is available on the Volume page and individual chapters can be downloaded for free from the Publication page. The volume is fully indexed and searchable via the EL Publishing Search feature.

All the chapters have been fully double-blind peer reviewed and are distributed as open access under Creative Commons CC-BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial) licence. A hardback print version of the book is being prepared for sale, and arrangements for purchase will be notified via the EL Publishing website soon.
