In the past few weeks, there have been a number of changes at EL Publishing in terms of our advisors and organisational structure.
- Julia Sallabank has stepped down as an Editor and will continue as a Consulting Editor for the next three years. We are grateful to Julia for all her hard work for EL Pub since 2007, including editing LDD 9, a special issue on “endangered languages, endangered knowledge and sustainability”, publishing other papers and reviews, reviewing submissions, and overseeing sociolinguistics, language policy, and revitalisation areaa;
- the Editorial team now consists of:
- Jorge Emilio Rosés Labrada, who joins EL Pub as co-Editor for an initial term of one year, with special responsibility for Latin America and publications in Spanish. Jorge is Assistant Professor in Indigenous Languages Sustainability, in the Department of Linguistics, University of Alberta, and has worked extensively on languages in Canada, Colombia and Venezuela. Welcome and Bienvenido, Jorge!
- David Nathan of Groote Eylandt Language Centre, who continues as co-Editor, with special responsibility for cataloguing, website and IT infrastructure.
- Peter Austin, who continues as co-Editor, with responsibility for day-to-day management of EL Pub activities.
- Gerrit Dimmendaal has stepped down as Consulting Editor after five years. We are very grateful for his advice and support and wish him well with his ventures in retirement;
- Mark Turin joins us as Consulting Editor for a term of four years. Mark is Associate Professor in Anthropology and the Institute for Critical Indigenous Studies at the University of British Columbia, Canada, and is a specialist in Tibeto-Burman languages and cultures in the Himalayan region and Indigenous languages of north-western Canada. Mark is Director of the World Oral Literature Project, and the Digital Himalaya Project, and leads the Relational Lexicography research initiative. Welcome Mark!
- the Consulting Editors, who provide strategic and operational advice to the Editorial team, are Jeff Good, University of Buffalo, Lenore A. Grenoble, University of Chicago, Julia Sallabank, SOAS University of London, Mark Turin, University of British Columbia, and Anthony C. Woodbury, University of Texas at Austin. We thank them for their ongoing support!
- the Advisory Board has been refreshed with the appointment of leading researchers from Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, and USA. We are deeply saddened by the passing of former Advisory Board member Tucker Childs, and offer our condolences to his family.
